This is Paul*, a refugee for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) who is now a deputy head teacher in a school in the Kakuma refugee camp. Paul arrived in Kakuma in 2002 and on arrival immediately applied to become a teacher. Since living in the camp, Paul has taken the teacher training program which has helped him to add to his knowledge (from DRC) and to understand and implement the Kenyan system. Through hard work he has managed to work his way up to the position of Deputy Head Teacher.

When I am resettled,” says Paul, “I will continue to teach. Teaching is my talent.”
